Senator Natasha Akpoti and Senate President Godswill Akpabio Still Battling

Battle not ending soon between Senator Natasha and Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The stories and news about the disagreements between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti may continue to be trending and making headlines if the two parties, their supporters and legal teams refuse to give peace a chance. Since March 2025, these two public figures in the Senate House of Nigeria have been going through tensed war which also led to Senator Natasha Akpoti being suspended from the Senate House for 6(six) months.
The two public figures have involved their supporters and legal teams and which possibly could make the chances of having peace to almost become impossible or to linger for longer timeframe.
It was heard that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio went ahead to request that the court grants him an order that will stop Senator Natasha from granting interviews with journalists, TV and Radio stations and social media until their case which is already in the court is ruled. As things have continued to sour between the two public figures, during that time when Senator Natasha visited her home town in Kogi State, she alleged that Senator Godswill Akpabio had conspired with the Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to kill her in Kogi State but that she should not be killed in Abuja. She alleged that money changed hands in the plans for her to be murdered, as she claimed that Senator Akpabio was the one funding the plans to kill her. She said she was able to get the information from insiders in the camp of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Yahaya Bello.
Thus, Senate President Godswill Akpabio had petitioned the police to investigate the allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti where she is accusing him of having hidden plans to kill her. He said such allegations are heinous, baseless and reckless and are not what he will allow to be swept under the carpet without proper investigation to prove that he is innocent.
As their crisis continue to escalate, Senator Natasha Akpoti also raised alarm to the public domain of how some armed thugs broke into her grandfather’s home in Kogi State in the night thinking that she was there so that they will attack or kill her.
Some Nigerians who have analyzed how Senator Natasha Akpoti was suspended from the Senate House of Nigeria, her security details removed from her, her salaries stopped etc, have strongly argued in support of her that for the fact that the House of Senator under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio were responsible for her suspension, that it was an indirect way of exposing the suspended Senator Natasha to security risks, threats and even dangerous death if adequate care is not taken.
Few days ago, we saw a satirical apology letter from Senator Natasha addressed to Senator Akpabio which was circulating all over the social media and news channels.
Obviously, with the way both parties are pushing their matter, the battle may not be ending anytime soon between them. Though, if they can allow maturity to play a bigger role in their ongoing dispute, they should consider casting aside their differences, apologize to each other, forgive each other and encourage their supporters and legal teams to let go. They should join forces together and work harmoniously in order to bring the needed developments to Nigeria and to their respective constituencies.
